Coughing up Blood ?!!?!! What to do?

I have had a cold,flu and a very chesty cough and i have been coughing up phlegm all day but lately i have had small spots of red blood in my phlegm it has been suggested that i have been coughing to much and my throat is just raw because its not all blood its just some blood mixed in with phlegm, can anyone suggest what to do??? or what i have? ? ??
