I know this is a stupid question, and it relates to Wikipedia and homework...?

There have been a number of tests between W and the Britanica encyclopedia and W has done wee, but as you point out it varies even though most people want it to work. So, teachers have doubts. Use W to find other more "official" sources -- it's easy.
