I have recently gotten a cracked tooth..?

My tooth has split, and I lost half of what can be shown in the mouth but has not gone past the gum line. I went to 2 dentists, one says i would need a root c and a crown for it, which is understandable. The other one says that he wants to avoid the root c and try a healing filament. My nerve comes up an arch but has one spot that branches off that comes close to where the crack is. This filament is supposed to allow more bone to grow in to "push" the nerve down making it so I would not need to get a root c. I need to know where I could find information on this "enhancement filament" for my tooth, or if someone could tell me if this actually exists, and if it does is it worth it?
