A police officer is authorized to use deadly force whenever he or someone else is in danger where life is at risk. No one even has to fire the weapon, by virtue of pointing a weapon at another person or an officer the officer (s) are authorized to shoot. If the person dies, "justifiable homicide." Too easy, point a gun at a cop, expect to be shot because you will be and there is no "stand off" when it comes to the police unless your barricaded.
